Async Associates works very closely with HP - LeftHand Networks to complete solutions requiring an end to end application delivery solution. With HP - LeftHand we are able to tailor a solution for almost any environment that is cost effective and is also very scalable.
Storage plays a key role in enabling the benefits of a virtual server infrastructure. HP - LeftHand Networks offers a storage environment designed for a virtual environment, which makes it an ideal match for Citrix servers. HP - LeftHand implements a virtualized storage system that is similar in concept to the virtualization applied to the servers, offering these benefits to IT organizations:
- Simple Management and Flexibility. Virtual server environments tend to grow and change more organically than physical server environments. The same is true with the storage associated with those virtual servers as new storage volumes are created, deleted, re-sized, and moved constantly. HP - LeftHand SANs are flexible and easy to manage, because they are designed to accommodate changes such as these. Volume provisioning within the SAN is automated; growing, shrinking or moving an iSCSI volume takes a few mouse clicks and requires no downtime.
- Scalability. It is difficult to accurately predict storage performance needs within a virtualized environment. Often the aggregate I/Os per second (IOPS) requirement against a SAN is the critical factor that causes user dissatisfaction and the need for storage re-provisioning or upgrades. LeftHand’s architecture addresses this problem in two ways: First, each LeftHand storage node includes CPU, RAM, cache, and network bandwidth. As new storage capacity is added to the SAN, all the necessary components are also scaled ensuring that no performance bottlenecks are created. HP - LeftHand SANs also address the re-striping of volumes. When a new storage node is added, existing volumes are automatically re-balanced to include the expansion nodes. Existing applications and virtual machines see increased IOPS automatically, and end-users see improved response time.
- High Availability. Both planned and unplanned downtime becomes more impactful in a XenServer environment as compared to a physical server environment due to the increased number of servers. HP - LeftHand SANs are architected to keep volumes available both during administrative activities as well as during component outages. We can offer the highest availability because of SAN/iQ® software’s patented Network RAID feature, which protects not only against single component failures, but also against many multiple component failures. SAN/iQ Network RAID can be extended to protect against environmental failures (power, sites, racks, air conditioning) as well by physically separating the storage nodes into multiple locations.
Storage Virtualization
Storage Virtualization enhances data availability for virtualized servers, so that you can:
- Meet the high availability requirements driven by your server consolidation
- Provision storage resources dynamically and intelligently, based on business needs
- Protect the data in the virtual data center for disaster recovery and business continuity
- Scale for growth and adapt to changes in business requirements without rearchitecting the storage solution
An open ISCSI SAN from HP - LeftHand allows you to gain continuous access to underlying storage, clone storage volumes and more.
